Atas Living comes to Parkway Parade

I haven't been to parkway for some time already and went there for dinner on thurs..

All along the escalators were signs and billboards(?) saying that new shops have opened in B1. Hmm interesting... so after dinner I went down to B1 and took a look around. Turns out the electrical applicance store, I think it was Courts, and Cargo(?) had picked up and left.. then in their place was CoffeeBean, Venezia (I think) selling gelare, SwissBake (or Swiss Bake?), a Jap fish specialty shop, a wine specialty shop, a gourmet meat and pasta shop, a tea infusions shop and Chocz.

Atas living I say... To service the nearby siglap residents and maybe for the marine parade residents who are trying out some of the good-life...

Didn't have time to check out the retailers who took over John Little's spot beside Marks and Spencer.. I think there's Topshop and Topman there. I should have seen this atas change coming when Topshop sent out a mailer to notify about their new shop in Parkway.

Hurrah for the management of Parkway Parade. The most happening heartland shopping mall!

Additional post abt Dbl-O... At one pt, the DJ started to play YMCA.. WTS WTH WTF man... even I have more happening music back at home loh. But I had been imbing and so I also joined in and sang with the chorus.. haha... And I think everybody can sing.. as long as they're sufficiently drunk!

On 23rd Dec...

Narnia opens and I went to watch at Marina SQ. The movie was quite good, I love watching mythical creatures come to life! Minotaurs, griffins, fawns(where did they come from?), centaurs and orcs!

The two girls were quite boliao though... the elder sister more so than the younger. At least the younger sis was the one who found Narnia... They were lying on Aslan's dead carcass while their brothers Peter and younger brother Edmund tried to fight off a superior and larger army led by the White Witch. That Arrow that turned into a Pheonix wasn't even fired by Susan. Watching the trailer made me put 2 and 2 together, Susan recieves an enchanted bow and quiver of arrows and an Arrow fired from someone on top of a cliff turns into a Pheonix burning a line on the plain.

The White Witch fights like she's an elf. Such fluid and deadly grace, very reminescent of elvish swordsmen. I hate.. ok maybe not so strong.. I dislike characters that can master both sword and magic, which was why I don't like David Eddings' Belgariad much (and I stopped there, not giving Tamuli any chance)

After the movie, I had an unplanned trip down to Dbl-O. Ade's colleagues in the engineering dept had planned to go there and had already jio-ed her to go, just that she didn't tell me earlier. At 1st I wasn't too interested to go.. neither was she but in the end she still say she'll be going and so I sorta had to go and accomompany her.

This is the 2nd time I'm at Dbl-O. The other time wasn't much fun cos someone else got drunk faster than me and then I had to take care of them. But this time I wasn't the designated driver so I had nothing to hold back haha! We had Long Island, vodka and bourbon while we played 007.

There were Santarinas dancing on poles! And two babes nearby were dancing to each other!

I managed to survive until almost closing time, then I had to sit down so that the ground would not escape from the bottom of my feet and get to the top my head. Ade had to drive a friend back and all the way home on the car I was in a good mood laffing and laffing all the way home. In order to prevent myself from puking or concussing on the car I was reciting every liscense plate that passed us and every road sign that we whizzed by haha.. It was a priceless moment that we lost because we didn't have a videocam or voice recorder. Like the Mastercard ad says, "There are somethings in life that are priceless. For everything else, there's Mastercard"

I survived till I got up to ade;s house where I spent sometime getting on good terms with the toilet bowl and then I slept over at her house.

The next day 24th Dec..

I woke up at sometime I guess almost noon then I got back home and bathed, brushed my teeth and ate some kway tiao soup. Then I slept... and nursed a weak tummy.

Later, we went peiling's house to have dinner and play games, which was quite simple and fun affair. Then when driving christine home, this hot chick riding pillion zoomed by us. Her top was really skimpy! Her pink top was only fastened by 1 button at the back and her black bra strap was partially covered. They got a bit ahead of us and then I flashed the high beam at them haha!

They seemed to travel the same way as us then I later caught up with them and kept pace with them for awhile. Just too bad they were on the left, not on the right. I took a quick look and noticed the front of her top was also flapping in the wind! I think her top was ready to be blown off by the wind!

25th Christmas Day

Ade's bro's birthday. We went Tampines Cafe Cartel to have lunch, then did a little shopping with them. Then running back home, I picked up Dawn Yin's pressie and took a cab to rush down to Raffles.

Raffles this year is damn weird loh. Very few of the alumni came... Then the few of us Idiots and Morons went to TCC have a spot of coffee (actually only I had coffee, the rest had some other funny drinks)

26th Boxing Day

Called up Baobei to meet and give her her pressie. Then went to shop for clothes and I bought really a lot at Bugis village. I also turned up a 90 bucks pair of jeans in the place. Goodness, such expensive price tags actually can be found in that place of bargain!

I spent too much buying shirts and tees that I prob won't be buying any jeans liao.. I bought a pair of pants in anticipation of the wedding dinners I'm going to be attending and that's it for shopping for new clothes I guess.

Oh yay, sup is going to be away from 22nd dec to 8th jan. Then I can finally think of how to enjoy the remainder of this short holiday.

I could be on Orchard Road, shopping. Looking through the merchandise on display, maybe considering something as a christmas present, maybe considering to buy some new clothes. Going to the toys section and looking at all the RC and electronic toys, checking out which company produces them. Walking about and looking around, all the young pretty things, all the bright shining things.

Then have a coffee break, at maybe Coffeebean. I wonder if the music will be nice. Maybe I'll try the 'christmas blends' and enjoy the wonderful aroma.

Then I'll pop by Heeren. Listen to music in HMV, itching to buy some cds. Saunter up to the Annex, browsing but not buying. Suddenly it'll be dinnertime. No idea what to have for dinner, no company for dinner. Dang I should have made an arragement with someone earlier.

Anyhow, with or without company, I'll have something nice for dinner. Taking the chance to rest my legs, I eat slowly, trying to savour the food. Perhaps I'll like it very much, perhaps I should have ordered the other thing on the menu.

Dinner's over, continue my care-less day. Is there something going on down at the Esplanade outdoor theatre? I'll just travel over down and check it out. Even if there's nothing, I could just sit there and listen to the water lapping on the rocks. Walk along the bridge to Fullerton, enjoy the wind.

But I'm here... with my IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics. Aaaahhhh.... life sucks.

Man.... feels like I'm doing my Masters or PhD!!! There is so freaking a lot of theory to understand... theory on lasers, theory on chaos, theory on injection-locking, theory on synchronization in communications!!

I was tracing laser equations of a '97 paper.. traced it back to a '96 paper.. ok the 96 paper uses the same equations as the 97 paper.

Then trace it back again to two 95 papers and a 94 paper.. the 95 papers refer back to the same 94 paper. But now, the equations don't look the same as the 96 paper anymore and I can't derive the 96 equations from the 95 ones..

The 95 equations are exactly the same as the 94 equations..

Moving back in time don't work, so I go back to the 97 paper and try to find out something else.. this time referencing to a book. But there don't seem to be a clear link between the book and the paper.

Hai... what am I to do?? Miracle please happen. Lightning please strike me that I may turn into a genius or a vegetable.

What did we do for Youkai's birthday? We let his secret fantasy come true... that is to kill 300 scvs and probes and raze all our bases with zerglings!

We played 2 free-for-alls then a third one, i suggested that we just build lots and lots of scvs and probes.. then arrange them all to form the words "Happy Birthday Youkai" and we did!

Actually it ended up as HAPP BDAY.. I tried to squeeze in a small Y but there really wasn't space to spell out his name..

Zhihao used his probes to make a 'cake' with zealot candles and pylon candle flames.. haha...

the zerglings were all over our bases.. then a group came out from his base to 'blow out' the pylon candle flames, then 'take out' the zealot candles, and 'eat' the probe cake.. then all hell turned loose as he turned off his ally status with all of us and the zerglings went on a frenzy, attacking all our defenseless buildings and sacrificial scvs that formed the words..

Must have brought a tear to his eyes as he watched one of all his secret fantasies come true..
