Been shopping.. last thursday (see Pangy and Mrs Jones entry below) I not only bought Taufik's CD, I also bought a pair of pants at Queenstown SC and a T-shirt and watch at Far East. I also was looking out for a jacket and I eyed one in Far East. Today I went to look around of other jacket choices...

Some of the Quicksilver/Ripcurl/Stussy ones are nice but also ex.. around 100 bucks. I also went to look at the red Ferrari jacket in World of Sport... niceee... but over 200 bucks... madness! So I went back to the shop in Far East and bought the jacket!

The low-down on what I bought.
Queenstown SC is like Far East catering specially to guys. Other than the sportswear shops in B1 where you can buy really cheap Nike/Adidas/Reebok shoes, the upper few floors have so many shops that sell dude clothes. The pants I bought was a khaki colour and had a little bell bottom to it. There's a bit of brown leather on the back pockets and back area, also the front pocket openings were curved and where the pants are not covered by the pocket flap, there is brown leather too.

Then in Far East, the T-shirt I bought is a light brown colour with an artistically drawn face using some yellow and dark brown and black. Goes very nicely with my Zara jeans.

The watch I bought, has a big metal face, the outer perimeter of the face is covered by a translucent yellow film which gives the face a kind of vintage aged look. The strap is a dark brown leather.

Finally the jacket, it's beige in colour and has double dark brown lines making big checks. Oooh I like it!

The season premier of Desperate Housewives probably proved that sex sells (yet again). Teasing trailers showing a well-built man tending his front lawn topless and a neighbouring lady washing her car in a loosely buttoned blouse and drenching herself over her breast with 2 wet sponges. The tv-voice said it was 'Sex in the City' in the suburbs. OOOhhhh... I couldn't wait to find out how desperately in need of loving these housewives were! (LOL! that sounded rather ahem... you all understand that I'm just being honest and that their ploy worked and I took the bait)

But....

The season started off in a really morbid way.

The narrator shot herself in the head not even 5 mins into the show. And 'she' continued to narrate......

As the week unfolded, various things happen to the families living on that lane.
The narrator's wake, a career-woman-turned-housewife meets her ex-colleague in the mall, a sexy latino-looking wife of a rich businessman seduces the garderner, 2 widows fight for the single stranger that just moved into the neighbourhood, a perfect wife's perfect life is starting to get on the rest of the family's nerves, secrets lurk under the swimming pool... oh man... SINISTER!

Be sure to catch it next week... mondays channel 5 at 10pm!

Blog about nonsense loh, said jiahui

nonsense nonsense nonsense nonsense nonsense

no lah this is not working

Came back from watching Kinsey, Let's talk about sex. It's quite a good movie, funny here and there, enlightning here and there. But like all 'mad' scientists, they have failable assistants who further help to ruin his status and work.

Anyway the topic of his research was incredibly controversial given the sexually-repressed era he was in.

Oh yah! 1st movie I watched since dunno when that showed Americans as sexually repressed...

Another moment of inspiration from this morning's lecture.

My prof said, " We are engineers, not mathematicians. We hate to solve complicated maths equations. But we are often faced with complicated derivations and integrations ...."

I totally agree. But that's the lazy me talking.. can I not do all that horrible maths? What really inspired me is something more.

We engineers should not have to be bogged down by rigorous, complicated maths or have our time taken away, looking after delicate equipment or doing routine mechanical work. We should be given time to think, to imagine, to sit on the problems faced by people and finally use our engineering skills to engineer products or processes that will solve these problems and make life generally easier for everyone!

That is engineering. Making something for the specific purpose of solving a problem or to bring improvement to humanity.

Then I think that's plain naivety. After I get a job as an engineer, what my boss says, I do.

From Sand to Circuits

I was going to post after being very inspired by my lecture on Optoelectronics... but I found I don't have enough kou shui to finish the whole post.... SO..

I wanted to say something about how incredible our engineering prowess is. Probably so great that we could amaze God. Bear in mind, I do not believe in any god and when I say that, I mean if there was a God, he'd probably be really amazed at what we are doing with silicon.

Silicon is easily obtainable from sand. It's something that makes up the enjoyment we derive at the beach and usually becomes a nuisance after we leave, it gets into our pockets and every nook and cranny in our belongings and even body

But it is also gives us silicon, which is the cornerstone of all semiconductor technology. To the lay-person, so what about semiconductors? Semiconductors are found everywhere in modern life, I cannot even finish listing all the applications of semiconductors. It is an incredible infrastucture that many people don't even know it's there.

Something like that..
