Entering the last week of exams. Studying is like dragging my feet thru wet soggy mud that's almost waist high. Originally wanted to raise my concentration to the level of that I had at the beginning but clearly that is not as easy as flicking a switch. And it sure don't help that the knowledge in the notes are not presented in a clear manner. The steps in the derivations just go on and on, on the same line..
Studying on saturday nite and sunday nites are so horrible.. so I went out just now.. eventhough by myself.. exam time, hard to get company, hmm din try ding or jl... ah well wasn't in any great mood to go out actually, just want to go out of the house, so .. whatever...
And so horrid, it rained just as i stepped out of the lift. I was feeling utterly shitty. What the heck I had to get out and get away, so I decided to screw it and continued..
When I got out, I was reminded AGAIN that I really don't like to go out on my own. Hai.. but what the hell I just tried to relax and slouched in the Pacific Coffee armchair...

It's an interesting feeling when you feel like you've studied all you can for a paper...
The CS1102 forum is exploding with posts from people all around discussing past year papers. Comparing answers, comparing algorithms, arguing the 'correctness' or 'wrongness' of analysis of difficult questions. I too joined in quite a bit, but after awhile, the hyperbolic explosion of posts and comments make it difficult to keep up with the discussion and the powerful number crunching analysises simply becomes shut out as you glance over the post.
Then I realise... all these geeks and nerds (i'm one too) can take their number crunching analysis and go stuff it down or up wherever they want cos nobody's gonna be able to come up with such detailed analysis of similarly difficult questions under exam conditions.
In the exam hall, when faced with such questions, it is luck that is all important. Especially since some of these super difficult questions are MCQ. In the mere 2 minutes that you are allowed to spend on the question, you might not be able to analyse it correctly, but if by some stroke of luck you guess or arrive at the same answer then you've got it made! No need to spend days and nights pondering and deciding if there are exception cases.
Perhaps that is also one of the reasons why people say don't take life too seriously. Many 'crunch time' decisions have to be made on a hunch or a guess. So what if you predicted the means to the end wrongly? Often it is the end that is important. Just like MCQ in exam. It is the end, the shading of the oval on the optical answer sheet that gives you or don't, the mark.

Started playing Warcraft again. I've been 'celibate' the whole sem and interestingly it is now that I am back to my unholy warring ways.
Managed to beat the Orcs consistently. 2 of 5 games played, the computer drew Orc and I won both, the second one took only half the time of the 1st.
Lost horribly to Humans once but trounced them in another game. Also 2 of 5 games
And lost the one game that the com drew Night Elf. Though i think i can now beat them, if i played... but nah.. it was a good distraction while it lasted.
Frostmourne hungers..

Getting all geared up for exams..
Watched Starwars The Empire Strikes Back and then The Matrix back-to-back on sunday night! Woo! Great break from studies.
Tuesday, today, got home then remembered to checked NLB catalogue. Looking for reference books for Signals and Systems cos the regular text by prof isn't doing the trick for me.. Ah... found one of the recommended reference texts and it's available at the Tampines library! How convenient.. rushed out to get it.
Then I got there and checked the catalogue again for the reference number. ON TRANSIT FOR RESERVATION!! WHAT?! In the half an hour that I took to take a bus down to the library, somebody takes it from under my nose with a reservation. Damn....
