Went to watch Pirates! of the Carribean. Nice visual effects when the undead pirates jumped in and out of the moonlight and changing from undead to human seamlessly. Very good visual impact when they crept up on the British flagship by walking under the waves, brings out the mystery, fear and fantasy of the living dead. But not as good as Tolkien in LOTR (I mean the book) as he describes the Nazgul and the reactions to it from the folk of Middle Earth. One for Tolkien, nought for POTC.

The British navy men seem to have no fear of the undead! Which is quite surprising as the sight of walking skeletons should be the stuff of nightmares. Even hardened soldiers would have to gather up their balls to come face to face in combat with. Veteran soldiers might have stared death in its face but how many have stared at Death staring back. Not many I reckon.

The portrayal of being undead as a curse was quite well done.. with Captn Barbosa's little speech about how food stopped to satisfy, drink no longer quenched thirst and bodily pleasures fail to slake lust. Tolkien didn't show that in the book, most prob because the Nazgul never spoke. I guess that's a tie maker for POTC.

While I like reading and watching movies and even playing games that feature the skeleton undead (think LOTR book and movie, Undead race of WC3), Ade is into vampires and their lackey wolf-men. We are quite a pair I say..!
